Capricorn Drilling SA · Argentina
High-performance multipurpose drilling.
Global experience. Local commitment. Proven people.
An Argentine drilling contractor based in San Juan and Neuquén, working across oil & gas, mining, lithium and water. Our upgraded Segoqui 1900 truck rig delivers oil-rig torque and pullback with the mobility of a truck.
Who we are
Proven where it counts.
Capricorn Drilling SA is an Argentine drilling contractor incorporated in San Juan and registered as a Mining Supplier in the Province of San Juan, with strategic partnerships in Neuquén. Our leadership and crews combine deep Latin American experience (Argentina, Chile, Peru and the high Andes) with roots in the Australian drilling industry.
We know the Segoqui 1900 inside out. We operate it, maintain it and have upgraded it well beyond its factory specification.
Operational discipline
Planning, execution and safety to oilfield standards, on every shift.
Multipurpose capability
Rotary, flooded reverse, RC and large-diameter hammer drilling from one rig.
Long-term partnerships
We build lasting relationships with clients and suppliers, not one-off campaigns.
Solutions, not excuses
We solve problems, adapt quickly and keep projects moving.
Local commitment
In Argentina, with Argentines.
We hire locally, train Argentine crews and transfer know-how, with an operating presence in two of the country’s key regions.
Neuquén · Oil & gas
Operating in Vaca Muerta in strategic alliance with Grupo BM Inspecciones.
San Juan · Mining
Registered as a Mining Supplier in the Province of San Juan and positioned for the region’s copper and lithium exploration.
Local crews
We hire and train Argentine drillers, operators and support staff, building careers rather than rotations.
Local suppliers
From solids control to logistics, we buy locally wherever the capability exists.
Knowledge transfer
International supervisors and specialists train, mentor and hand over to local crews.
Community
We take part in the communities where we work and support local programmes.
Fleet & equipment
Segoqui 1900: serious power for its size.
Oilfield capability with truck-rig flexibility: the torque, pullback and hydraulics of a much larger rig, with the mobility and economics of a truck-mounted unit.

Torque and hookload in the class of a conventional oil rig, on a unit that rigs up in hours, not days.
The Segoqui 1900 is our flagship rig. Deep-hole diamond (DDH) capacity is coming soon, and alliance partners extend our reach to deeper, large-scale programmes.
Capabilities
One machine, multiple methods.
Oil & gas conductors, water wells, large-diameter lithium: one rig that switches between mud, air and reverse circulation.
Conventional mud rotary
Direct-circulation mud drilling for deeper, high-pressure programmes.
Flooded reverse
Highly effective for large-diameter water wells and unconsolidated formations.
Reverse circulation (RC)
Dual-wall pipe with top and bottom air swivels. The 120 mm top-drive bore handles high cuttings flow without choking.
Air drilling with DTH hammers
Large-diameter percussion drilling for basalt, hard rock and fractured, loss-prone zones.
Casing while drilling
Symmetrix drills and cases in a single pass through unstable overburden, including telescopic casing programmes.
Downhole motor
Mud-motor drilling where the formation or well path calls for it, with live monitoring.
Beyond factory spec
Upgraded where it counts.
Extended mast (Range 2)
11.0 m of usable stroke for Range 2 casing, which means fewer connections and faster casing runs.
Remote pipe feeder
Hands-free handling of tubulars up to 14 in from the control panel. No one handles steel under load.
Second FMC Bean 435 triplex
Twin-pump capacity for effortless injection and fast rig-up, with less auxiliary equipment to mobilise.
3,000 psi mud manifold
Rebuilt for deeper mud programmes and demanding hydraulics.
Caterpillar power
A 475 HP Cat C13, with proven power and parts and service wherever we work.
Continuous improvement
Many further upgrades over the factory build, made and proven by the crew that runs the rig.
Support package
Air, mud and data, at scale.
The rig doesn’t work alone. We field the air, pumping and mud-handling package to match it.
Up to 5,000 cfm of air
Four compressors can run inline, with boosters when the hole demands it, backed by solid maintenance and support.
Triplex pumps
Standalone mud pumps for high-volume, high-pressure programmes.
Full solids control
A local partner with oilfield and lithium experience, providing shakers, large-volume mixing tanks and mud engineers on site 24/7.
NOV RigSense RT
Real-time drilling data streamed to the client’s office on request.
Industries
Supporting energy and mining.
Oil & gas
Surface holes, conductors, guide wells and directional support.
Lithium
Exploration and production wells, including large-diameter brine wells in the Chilean high Andes, drilled with this same rig.
Mining
Reverse circulation and large-diameter hammer drilling for exploration, production and water-monitoring wells, casing advance for difficult ground.
Water & infrastructure
High-capacity water wells, large-diameter flooded reverse, geotechnical and specialist drilling.
From unconsolidated overburden to hard rock, and from sea level to high-altitude pads. Typical depths beyond 1,000 m, depending on diameter.
The people
Built by drillers.
Our people have worked in some of the world’s most demanding drilling environments: oil & gas, mineral exploration, deepwater and directional operations, and remote high-altitude sites.
Some of our supervisors and specialists are international. The mission is local: train the next generation of Argentine drillers, build careers and hand over responsibility.
In the field
Built for real conditions.

How we work
Every project starts the same way.
1
Understand the objective
Well design, formation, logistics: we start by listening.
2
Engineer the solution
Method, string design, fluids and contingencies, agreed before mobilisation.
3
Mobilise properly
The right equipment and people on site, rigged up quickly.
4
Execute safely
Disciplined operations with a zero-harm focus.
5
Deliver what was promised
On schedule, on budget and fully documented.
